I was born in the good old city of Pretoria, for those of you who don’t know, Tshwane may be more familiar.
My parents relocated from there to Durban and this has been my base ever since. The urge was there to leave, more than once, but I’ve always come back, there is something in Durban that is just so different and it is so difficult to place one’s finger on it.
Like a lot of youngsters, I hated school, discipline, army. . . you name it, but then one day I woke up and realized that all those things made me who I am today, especially with the valuable help and guidance of my parents.
I studied Television Arts at the Technical College in Durban and qualified with honors. I spend a good part of my life doing video work. From Weddings to fashion shows to the odd promotional video.
As far back as I can remember there has always been a camera around, holidays, weddings, youth camps etc. I would run around and take pictures to my heart’s content and enjoy the outcome after waiting for the film to be processed. Now with digital it has changed the way we do photography, for the better and I love it even more!!!!
Canon is the brand I use, including lenses and my advice on buying a camera is “look at them all, hold them and touch them. The one that feels good in your hands is the one you should get. Don’t let a few pixels change your mind.”
A bit of my philosophy in life
All around us people are complaining that there is just not enough time in the day to do all the things they really want to do.
There is just too much that they have to do. Guess what,
YOU HAVE TO MAKE TIME FOR THE THINGS YOU ENJOY DOING…
What is the use of doing everything with no thought spared for yourself? What do you get for it, most times not even a thank you?
When last did you enjoy the sunrise, or even looked at a full moon…?
Don’t fool yourself, there is much more to life than going to work and being a slave to society. The world will not stop should you take some time to sit back and enjoy the beauty of it. Your family will not perish should you stop to take a deep breath of fresh air. Your job/work will still be there in the morning, so why worry about it at night . . .
REMEMBER, WHERE A DOOR CLOSES, A WINDOW OPENS UP.
The window may be smaller but it will lead to another DOOR.
YOU OWE YOURSELF SOME TIME FOR THE THINGS YOU ENJOY…
MAKE A PLAN…
LIVE A LITTLE…
